2020 Certification Program - Living Income

by Rainforest Alliance
A scenario analysis shows that increasing cocoa yields had a stronger effect on reducing the incidence of poverty and the proportion of households that can achieve a living income.
The paper follows a discussion paper published in November 2020 and contributes to a data-led and evidence-based point in view to the discussion around living income for cocoa farmers in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire – the largest cocoa producing countries in the world. It presents new data and insights for a multi-stakeholder approach to achieving a living income for cocoa farmers.
